Rocche dei Manzoni, Barolo DOCG (Piedmont, Italy) 2015

($60):  Rocche dei Manzoni’s regular Barolo suffers only by comparison to their exquisite single vineyard bottlings.  Indeed, it does this wine a disservice to taste it next to the others.  This Barolo shows both the elegant, floral side characteristic of the DOCG as well as the power hidden under the surface.  Like its brothers, this Barolo is fresh and balanced.  Nothing is out of place.  Tightly wound, this sturdy wine still needs plenty of bottle age for it to blossom.   As with Rocche dei Manzoni’s other Barolo, it showed beautifully the next day.  My advice?  Buy some of all three.
