Tenuta Alzatura, Montefalco Bianco DOC (Umbria, Italy) “Cortili” 2024 ($35)

Tenuta Alzatura could label their Cortili as DOC Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino since it is made entirely from Trebbiano Spoletino, a unique grape that makes fare more distinctive wines than the more pedestrian Trebbiano Toscana. Instead, they opt to use Montefalco Bianco DOC because of Montefalco’s name recognition. Regardless of the DOC nomenclature, Cortili is the name to remember and search out. Alessandro Mariani, the estate manager of the Cecchi family-owned, Tenuta Alzatura, exclaims, “This is our version of fresh wine.” The stunning 2024 Cortili was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, which helps explain its engaging floral aspect and its clean and bright profile. A hint of spice in the finish adds to its charm.
