The Mâconnais in southern Burgundy continues to be a great source for well-priced Chardonnay-based white wines, like this one. If the grapes come exclusively from one of the 26 villages recognized to produce more distinctive wine, like Pierreclos, its name can appear on the label. Le Clos des Charmes, a monopole of Eric Forest, contains nearly 100-year-old vines, which helps explain the stature of the excellent 2023, whose vibrant acidity is the perfect foil for the peachy nuances. This easy-to-recommend white would be a good choice for fish this summer.
