Bodegas Viña Nora has successfully employed judicious oak aging – seven months in new barrels – to add a seductive, vanilla-tinged accent. Thankfully, the oak neither dominates nor intrudes on the core of fruit, and the spark of Albariño is still apparent. Those who prefer a touch more roundness and richness with their Rías Baixas will embrace it. Those who prefer the full-on electrical bite of Albariño may be disappointed.
