Pernot-Belicard is a sleeping star (that is, an unrecognized one) in Puligny-Montrachet. I suggest buying as much of their wines as you can before they enter cult status, which they will, and prices rise. Their Aligoté, Burgundy’s “other” white grape aside from the ubiquitous Chardonnay, comes from two plots, planted in 1956 and 1971, in Puligny Montrachet near the road. The 2024 combines the energy inherent to the grape with depth that’s not often found in Aligoté. It is a great choice for highly flavored dishes, like seafood in a rich tomato sauce or the plethora of flavors found with an omakase-like meal.
