Château D’Arsac, Margaux (Bordeaux, France) 2018 ($35)

As Château D’Arsac, classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, shows, value — great value indeed — exists in Bordeaux. Their fully mature mid-weight 2018 shows the wonderful and seamless combination of dark fresh fruit nuances offset by those “not just fruit” flavors characteristic of a mature wine. Its suave texture is emblematic of the Margaux appellation. Though delicious now, especially with a hearty duck and mushroom pasta, it has plenty of freshness and life, so there’s no rush.
