2016 ($25): Rodney Strong first planted Pinot Noir in Russian River Valley in 1968, so the winery has experience with this grape. While basically fruit-focused, savory nuances do emerge. Though supple and smooth, there is a subtle and welcome firmness which lends needed structure to balance the ripeness. This bargained-priced Pinot Noir is well-suited to accompany roasted chicken with sautéed mushrooms or grilled salmon.
