Valpolicella Superiore lies between Valpolicella and Amarone in style, displaying more density and oomph than Valpolicella yet not the power of Amarone. Think of it as an Amarone Rosso. Pasqua’s 2015, a mature and balanced 10-year-old wine, is a real treat. Bold and fresh, it delivers the captivating leafy qualities found in a mature wine. The 15 percent stated alcohol is incorporated seamlessly, so don’t be put off by the number. Although mild supporting tannins allow for current consumption, waiting for wintertime would not be a bad idea. If you can’t wait (and that would be understandable), grill a leg of lamb on a cool summer night.
