Maison Albert Bichot, Petit Chablis (Burgundy, France) 2022

($26, Albert Bichot USA):  In my mind, Petit Chablis is a misnomer because “petit” somehow diminishes the wine.  Petit Chablis comes from Chardonnay planted in a different kind of limestone compared to those labeled Chablis, imparting more fruitiness and less minerality.  Bichot, one of Burgundy’s top négociants, has substantial holdings in Chablis from which they make superb domaine-bottled wines.  Though this one is a négociant bottling, their talent with Chablis is abundantly apparent.  This light-weight fresh white delivers lovely delicate fruitiness accented by a hint of flintiness.  It is a great choice for summer sipping or to accompany simple seafood.
