($12, Winebow): Though the muscular signature of wines from Toro is apparent, this wine remains lively and well balanced. There’s an engaging combination of spice, earthy notes and black cherry-like fruit. Mild tannins impart structure in this mid-weight wine without intruding. It has more substance–as befitting a wine from this DO–than the winery’s Peromato (also reviewed this week). 89 Michael Apstein Nov 9, 2010
