($60): In contrast to this brand’s Columbia Valley Merlot, this one from selected vineyards solely within the Walla Walla Valley emphasizes the minerality and succulent black fruit flavors of Merlot.  The engaging herbal elements are still present, but more in the background in this dense, plush wine.  Good grip keeps this big boy from going over the top.  Fine tannins and lovely balance mean you can enjoy it now with a thick steak. 92 Michael Apstein Oct 21, 2008
