($40, Tom Eddy Wines): Cherubino was the winemaker at Houghton, a leading producer in Western Australia, and a senior winemaker at New Zealand’s prestigious Craggy Range, before setting out on his own. Judging from this, his first Shiraz, he will succeed at this endeavor as well. Succulent plum and black currant fruit flavors pour from this powerful, but balanced wine. Fine tannins and a touch of peppery elements round out the picture. It’s another welcome alternative for those who find many Barossa Shiraz over-the-top. 91 Michael Apstein Jan 15, 2008
