($15, Allan Scott USA): I have been — and still am — an admirer and fan of Alan Scott’s wines, having followed them over the years. He was one who showed the world the uniqueness and potential of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The 2012 seems to dial back the electrifying energy, the hallmark of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Still, it’s an excellent introduction to what the region has to offer and a fine choice for sushi, steamed clams, or grilled fish in a lemon butter sauce.
