($10, Vineyard Brands): Most Chardonnay in this price range are sappy and sweet. Not this one. Not surprisingly, tropical fruit flavors predominate in this straightforward wine, but there’s much better acidity–a bright lemony touch–than is usually found in Chardonnays at this price. Perhaps the message is getting through: consumers are looking for less ripe, less overt, less ponderous Chardonnay. This is one of them. 86 Michael Apstein Nov 30, 2010
